LIVE TALK: The path to 500,000 acres of wetlands in Metro Detroit
September 19 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm
Register now for our upcoming webinar!
Wetlands play a critical role in the health of our climate and community — from flood control and pollution treatment to water protection and food system support.
The preservation and restoration of this natural resource is one focus of SEMCOG’s GREEN Initiative, which sets an ambitious target to reach 500,000 acres of wetlands in Southeast Michigan by 2050. That’ll require preserving the 337,000 acres the region has now, plus restoration and creation of another 163,000.
Our panel of experts say this will be no small feat — so how can we get it done?
We’re teaming up with Six Rivers Land Conservancy for a robust and informative discussion about what’s needed to accomplish such a big lift. Sign up to learn what we need to do now to ensure a sustainable future.
Panelists:
- Chris Bunch, Six Rivers Land Conservancy Executive Director
- Katie Grantham, SEMCOG Environmental Planner
- Dianne Martin, ASTI Environmental Director of the Resource Assessment and Management Group
