Planet Detroit reporters hit the polls to chat with voters on election day. We discovered that environmental protections were pivotal for some, while others voted based on personal motivations. Some expressed allegiance to former President Trump, and others stressed the importance of safeguarding the environment for future generations. Still others came to the polls to protect women’s rights to choose.

Brian Allnutt, Martina Guzmán, Isabelle Tavares, Moses Matenga and Meghan Rutigliano were at the polls talking to voters on election day. Here are some highlights:

Debbie Dingell: ‘Nauseously optimistic’

Voting for environmental protections

‘I have had cancer three times at the age of 45’

‘When Trump was the president, I was comfy’

‘When a woman is in trouble’

‘We just want to have a better environment for our children and mothers’

‘I believe everybody deserves the same opportunities’

Latina reporters ftw!
