You’re a Michigander, and you care about this state. You see what’s happening in your corner of the Mitten, and you’ve got the itch to tell about it through skilled reporting and writing.

Welcome to Planet Michigan, a publication of Planet Detroit on the Facebook Bulletin platform. Our aim is to report on what’s happening from the top of the Upper Peninsula to the Ohio border around climate change. We’re focused on helping Michiganders understand the science and the impacts, and also the solutions — how we mitigate and adapt to this new climate reality. We’ve also got our eye on social equity. We’ll focus a lot on how this climate crisis is impacting Michigan’s low-income communities and communities of color.

We’re looking for original news reporting, investigative pieces, explainers, guides, interviews, profiles, opinions, and personal narratives that help illuminate how climate change is affecting those who live in and care about the Great Lakes state.

If you’ve got a pitch or an idea for a story, please reach out to nina@planetdetroit.org. We look forward to hearing from you!
