Planet Detroit is partnering with Cleveland’s The Land on a special opportunity to train local residents who want to write about their neighborhoods, local government, civic issues, and more.
Participants work with experienced journalists to learn how to write a story and get published in Planet Detroit. No experience is necessary, just a passion for your community.
We can accept up to four students. Applicants must agree to attend all training classes (on Zoom!) and to complete an article for Planet Detroit within 12 weeks. Accepted students will be mentored by Planet Detroit’s founder, Nina Ignaczak. We will provide a $300 stipend to each student who finalizes and publishes a final piece.
Following this first application, finalist applicants will be required to submit a short, 1-2 paragraph pitch that will be used to develop an article for Planet Detroit. We hope you are ready to apply!
