Noojimo’waning, Detroit’s first Land Back project, returns five city lots to Anishinaabe stewardship for ecological restoration and cultural healing. The site honors the area’s role as a sacred stopping place in Indigenous prophecy.

Hadassah GreenSky Meshekey is a Traverse Bay Bands Odawa, Fond Du Lac Ojibwe, and Bodewadmi artist, musician, cultural worker, and land steward. She is turtle and bear clan. Hadassah lives in Detroit, otherwise known as Waawiyaatanong, Where The Curved Shores Meet. She is a 2022 Kresge Arts Fellow. As an organizer, she has collaborated and partnered with the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, College for Creative Studies, Detroit Historical Society, Historic Fort Wayne, Sundance Film Institute, and has been featured in Vogue, AJ+, The Washington Post, CBS, Metro Times, Planet Detroit, and more.
